You can go to www.MRIquiz.com to get almost 1200 questions, graded on each quiz you take, and you can even take the exams on your phone or tablet. It's designed to be a simpler study guide, definitely not in depth, and there's a great quick-link for books or sites of interest. Makes the studying part of the Registry a little more fun!!! Good luck!!

MRI Technologist Forum - CASA LOMA COLLEGE MRI AS DEGREE: [QUOTE who="Godwithus in San Diego, Cali...
I graduated from an ARMRIT accredited school in 2004. Yes I had difficulty at first looking for a job but when they saw my skills, knowledge and dedication to my work ARMRIT license did not become a problem. I've been working for big a hospital in San Diego for 5 years now and been trying to train RT's to learn it too but so far no success, because they are having a hard distinguishing apples from oranges. RT's are trained differently and they cannot grasp the concept and physics of MRI. In conclusion people who are saying that ARMRIT techs are not qualifeid or they are not employed by hospitals is a total falacy. Just keep keep your head high ARMRIT techs don't give up there's jobs out there.
I live in San Diego and am looking for a clinical site to accompany my online MRI program. I am already working for Sharp as an RT, but unfortunately, I was told that I couldn't use them as a site for the program if I attend it. I was wondering if you are still working for this hospital in San Diego, and if so, would they be willing to take on an MRI student for clinical training?

would you want a surgen who took all online classes operating on you, or would you want them to go to a school with a lab and practice their future career skills on cadavers? If you want a REAL education I suggest going to a medical school, anyone can pass and online class. online education is a joke.

I am a Radiation Therapist who will be leaving my full-time position to be enrolled in a hospital-based MRI program in September. I've chosen to do this due to the MRI simulators that are up and coming...it's the wave of the future. Has anyone else done this, or have an educated opinion for prospective jobs? I am terrified to leave my job when the market has been so terrible for so long.

MRI Technologist Forum - MRI REVIEW TOUR: [QUOTE who="lazarou in the uk in Birming...
Hi Guys, I am currently working as a MRI radiographer (technologist) in the U.K. I have a 3 year BSc degree in diagnostic radiography and can take anything from xray to mri (with the correct training i can expand to the remaining modalities). I solely work in MRI at the moment but still remember all my general radiography and I am seeking advice on registering in the USA.
From what I understand a UK rad tech cannot be ARRT registered but can apply for individual state licences. I have read that MRI techs do not need licencing at all but I have seen a lot of jobs requesting licencing. Also I have read that licensing in the state of florida provides licencing in the remaining 49 states respectively.
Is this in fact the case or am I misguided in my understanding? And also does anybody know of anything else that needs to be done prior to working in the USA from a UK background?
Hi Lazarou,
I have studied anatomy, neural science, physiology at 1st year level in the UK.
Is there a fast-track programme, or apprenticeship scheme to become qualified via NHS/Private as an MRI tech in the UK?
Many thanks!

Hello, I am hoping to obtain some insight into the current job market for MRI Technicians. I've read some discouraging posts, dating back from a couple of years ago. I'm wondering if things have changed, as the BLS is projecting significant growth through 2020. How is it out there? Im thinking of a career change, and would love some good news.
Thank you.

MRI Technologist Forum - MRI Training: [QUOTE who="MRI Technologist in Anaheim,...
I recently took the ARMRIT exam for the first time and passed. It wasn't as bad as I thought. In fact, it was super easy. Everyone in my class has also passed, but finding a job has been difficult with this accreditation alone. I decided to just follow through with it because I had already invested so much money. So I took the exam to see where it gets me. I don't feel optimistic at all about landing a decent job. I don't feel ARMRIT is doing enough to get their accreditation recognized. I didn't do my research on this MRI field and fell into it out of desperation because of the economy and losing a job.
If I don't land a job by next year 2013, I don't plan to renew my license, especially with the costs of the seminars required to maintain currency. For those of you taking the ARMRIT exam and have questions, let me know. I can't figure how anyone could fail it. They answers were so obvious.
Some people I know who spent twice as much as I did have struggled to pass the exam. The guy that trained me during my externship must've taken the exam 10 times. I heard those people in X-Ray required to get licensed in MRI are having difficulty passing the MRI-ARRT exam. Is this true? I'm not sure how similar the ARMRIT exam is to the MRI-ARRT exam. I just hope I can find work to help pay off what I paid into this.
what do you recommend to pass the ARMRIT exam?

The MRI registry is more than physics! Understanding MRI is a multifaceted complex system! My bachelors degree is in MRI and sadly I was ill equipped for clinical MRI in both outpatient and hospital settings. I am an active working MRI technologist who has written a textbook for MRI slice prescription using all 3 loc images! The MRI registry involves questions like "Slice select directions" and cross sectional anatomy! If you understand why you are doing what you are doing! the the MRI registry is a breeze ! Check out my website! www.masteringmri.com
I wish there was more information out there from active working MRI techs perspective to other MRI techs in the education sector!
